Straight-Wall Revival - Winchester 350 and 400 Legend Deer Season XP

For many years, hunters in certain states were permitted to hunt whitetail deer with only slug guns or muzzleloaders during firearm season. While these firearms can most certainly get the job done, a lot of hunters can be deterred by the heavy recoil of a slug gun or the complexity of a muzzleloader. Over the last decade, several states have approved the use of straight-wall cartridges, allowing hunters to use rifles during firearm season.
 

Winchester took notice and launched the 350 Legend in 2019, effectively starting a straight-wall revival that led to the development and launch of the 400 Legend in 2023. 

Straight-wall cartridges have been around for a long time and used to be the go-to for hunting medium and big game, but they became antiquated when higher performing bottleneck cartridges came into existence. 

The 350 and 400 Legend modernize the straight-wall cartridge giving them significant advantages in ballistics performance, recoil mitigation, and penetration compared to slug guns, muzzle loaders, traditional straight-wall calibers, and even some bottleneck cartridges.

• More energy than 30-30 Win., 300 Blackout, and 223 Remington
• Less recoil than 243 Win. and 30-30 Win. 
• Approximately 20% increased penetration over 243 Win.
• Effective range out to 250 yards

400 Legend: 

• Similar energy as 450 Bushmaster with 20% less recoil 
• Over 20% more energy than 30-30 Win. and 25% more energy than 350 Legend 
• 100% more energy than a 12-gauge slug at 100 yards 
• 55% less recoil than a 12-gauge slug
• Effective range out to 300 yards
