Winchester Blind Side and Early Goose Season

One hunt that I look forward to year after year come September is the start of early season goose season. Growing up in Minnesota my family spent a lot of time waterfowl hunting so this has always been one of the first hunts of the season.

Although I don’t get much time to hunt with my family anymore, this season I’m getting the best of both words. I’m heading to Saskatchewan at Buck Paradise Outfitters with my dad for an early goose hunt. So what makes these early hunts so great? In my opinion it’s tough to beat hunting with family and hunting birds that have had little to no pressure is a blast.

Winchester Blind Side and Early Goose Season

Sometimes geese come right into a decoy spread and are truly committed. The fun and anticipation of shooting close birds that are literally locked into decoys is something that will get any hunter excited. The weather is also amazing, so the entire experience is fun and action-packed.

Another thing I love about early goose hunting is the fact that it’s a very social hunt. We primarily use layout blinds where everyone is close enough to talk and joke around. Usually we hit fields with plenty of time to get all the decoys set, the layout blinds ready and then just wait for the action to start.

When it comes to equipment, I like shooting a Winchester 12-gauge with Winchester Blind Side BB for geese. The hex steel shot allows for more packing density and delivers incredible stopping power on geese.

The reason the hex works so well is because it actually stacks better and allows more shot to be put into a smaller space. This is a huge bonus for waterfowl hunters because more pellets are a huge benefit.

Winchester also understands that wet weather is sometimes inevitable when it comes to hunting fowl.To ensure the best performance in ammo, Winchester utilizes the Drylok super steel technology to keep your ammunition dry and working perfectly.

So if you’re looking for a little fun in September, check into an early goose season in your area and get out there with some friends or family and enjoy the day!
