Quick and Easy to Make Wild Game Breakfast Meals

Finally, the time you spent scouting and hunting has paid off. The deer is on the hanger, the grill is fired up and you are ready to process your harvest.

One of the great things about fresh, never frozen meat is you can prepare easy freezer meals for those days when you are in a rush but want to have a delicious breakfast without all the time it takes to make it. Here are 2 quick and easy meals you can prepare in advance for breakfast when you are on the go.

Quick and Easy to Make Wild Game Breakfast Meals

Cowboy Breakfast Burrito

What you will need:

  • 6 wraps
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 potatoes
  • 1/2-pound venison sausage
  • 1 cup of cheese

Begin by cooking the following ingredients:

Potatoes – chop the potatoes and sauté them in a well-oiled skillet until the potatoes are soft. I like to cook my potatoes until they are soft on the inside and a little crispy on the outside.

Eggs – Begin by heating the skillet over medium heat. While the pan is heating, combine eggs, water, and a pinch of salt and pepper into a mixing bowl, whisk until they are well blended. Once the pan is heated, grease the bottom and pour the eggs into the skillet, stirring the eggs frequently to keep them scrambled and fluffy!

Sausage – Cook ground sausage in a skillet, mixing occasionally until all the meat is brown.

Once the eggs, potatoes, and sausage have been cooked, combine them together in a large bowl and mix until well blended.

To assemble the burrito, place the mixture onto a wrap and neatly fold, keeping all of the ingredients inside. Lastly, wrap the burrito with cling wrap and place in the freezer until you are ready to eat! Best to use within 6 weeks.

To reheat the burrito, remove the cling wrap and line a microwave safe plate with a paper towel and place another paper towel over the burrito.  Heat for one minute and thirty seconds or until the burrito is hot.

Breakfast Sandwich

What you will need:

  • english muffins
  • 1 egg per muffin
  • 1/2-pound venison sausage
  • 1 cup of cheese

Begin by cooking the following ingredients:

Eggs – Begin by heating a small skillet over medium heat. While the pan in heating whisk together one egg with a little water and a pinch of salt and pepper until the ingredients are well combined. Once the pan is heated, grease the bottom with butter, then add the egg so it covers the bottom of the pan and makes a thin crepe. Cook for about a minute until the egg is mostly cooked through, flip, cook for another 10 seconds, then remove the egg.

Sausage – Press the ground sausage into round patties a little larger than the size of your English muffin. Cook the patties until both sides are brown and the meat is cooked through.

To assemble the sandwiches, slice the English muffin in half, place cheese, egg, and sausage on to each muffin. Once the sandwiches are assembled, wrap them tightly with cling wrap and place them into a zipped plastic bag. Store these in the freezer for up to 6 weeks.

To reheat the sandwich, line a microwave safe plate with a paper towel and place another paper towel over the sandwich and heat for 1 minute or until the cheese is melted and the sandwich is hot.
