There are multiple factors that constitute your readiness for the best time of the year. We know you’ve got that checklist in your head: all the things you need to do and prepare before the morning comes to take a seat in the stand. 

You need to eat right. You need to clock in some time at the gym. It’s been a lengthy off-season, and you want to ensure your body is ready to take on Mother Nature. It’s easier to trek through timber and climb up ladder stands when you have less pounds around your middle and more strength in the muscles. Start stocking up on protein and hitting the gym prior to opening day so your endurance is high…because your body is a crucial hunting tool. 

What else should be at the top of your to-do list? 
Getting your Winchester warmed up and ready…before the season opener.  

It is vital that you take your firearm out of hibernation. Though the Winchester is always reliable, it’s been a long winter. You need to make sure that you feel solid in your selection of Winchester ammunition for the upcoming season. The firearm needs to shoot exactly how you want it to shoot…so you can feel 100% ready to take down an impressive buck.

Get out your calendar or make a note on your phone to schedule some time to hit the nearest gun range. When you get to the range, keep these tips in mind to ensure you are dialed in and ready to get your trophy with Winchester by your side.

1. Sight In.  You’ve got to sight in and see where the Winchester loads land. Whether it takes you one shot or many, it’s assuring to know you’re dialed in and feel confident in your aim. Confidence is key…especially when the monster you’ve been waiting for comes strolling within shooting range.
   
   
2. Try Different Loads.  Bullet weight plays a significant role in the accuracy of your shot. Some-times certain guns seem to sync well with bullets of one weight over another. Play matchmaker between your Winchester firearm and ammunition here. Don’t make assumptions….now’s the time to try things out and find what works best. Feed your firearm different grains of Winchester ammunition to see what works and what shoots the way you want it to shoot. Experiment now so you can feel certain later.
   
   
3. Switch It Up.  Lay down. Stand up. Switch distances. You want to be comfortable and accurate shooting from a variety of positions. You can change where you are, but the Winchester won’t change what it gives you: power and accuracy, exactly where you need it. 

Now, the temps are sizzling and the grass is green. But soon enough, the air will turn crisp, the leaves will turn, and fall will arrive. Hunting season is coming. When it does, you’ll be ready…and so will Winchester.
