A Quick and Easy In Home Gym for the Hunter
Mike and I recently moved into our forever home, but the one thing that was missing was easy access to a quality gym without a long drive.
This was Mike’s idea and after a little negotiating and some sweet-talking, he sold me on the idea of a building our own garage gym. I mean why not spend our lifesavings all in a month’s time haha! All joking aside, it is important to maintain good health. Not only for life insurance reasons (listen to me sounding like a real adult), but also so you can live life to the fullest. Besides, what better way to hit the gym than to simply step foot out the door into your own private gym?? And as hunters, Mike and I always want to be as fit as we possibly can. A good workout regimen coupled with a healthy diet enable us to stay on top of our “hunting game.”
So, after months of researching products and scouring YouTube for product review videos, we finally put together a garage gym set up that checked off the boxes for most of our requirements and was also budget-friendly.
GYM REQUIREMENTS
Quality gear that can withstand impact.
While members of a gym, we never really relied on any machines for our workouts and spent most of our time in a power rack focusing on the main compound lifts: the deadlift, squat, bench press and overhead press. Occasionally, we will also mess around with the Olympic lifts (snatch and clean and jerk). Therefore, our gear needed to be able to withstand impact and be of higher quality to last us for years to come.
We decided to get our gym essentials from Rogue for a few reasons. 1.) Their black Friday deals helped us save some much-needed cash as we get adjusted to home ownership. 2.) From all we read and heard, their shipping and quality control is up there with the best (which it was for our first experience). 3.) Their warranties were very consumer friendly.
For our style of workouts, it only required a few essentials to get us off and running (or lifting in this case). Our shopping list included the following:
Power rack
Bumper plates
Adjustable bench
Barbell
Smaller cast iron Olympic plates

I am excited to get our home gym up and running just in time for the New Year! Watch out New Year resolutions, I’m coming for you!
