Winchester is a company that has always been dedicated to finding things that have worked in the past and making them even better. Case and point, Blind Side. People have successfully hunted ducks for generations, however, Winchester decided to take a closer look and found that the current technology could in fact be improved.
I’m always a big gear-junkie but there are certain things that I recommend to even those who don’t swap out gear all that often. One of those products is the Winchester Blind Side. First off, one of the goals of a waterfowler is to make quick, clean, ethical shots. With Blind Side, Winchester started by taking the most basic attribute, round shot, and rethinking this. To me, this is the most interesting advancement - they went to hex shot instead. Not only does it have more sides causing more trauma, but because of the hex shape it packs better allowing for more shot! In fact the stacked pellets in the same space as before means 15% more pellets! So now as a hunter you get more pellets on target with a larger kill zone and more trauma than ever before.
Next, to be the most effective hunter, you need to hit where you aim. The Diamond Cut Wad was designed to help with consistent patterns and increase the kill zone by up to 25% That means you have a little larger margin of error making you even more lethal.
Lastly, one of the most difficult aspects of waterfowl hunting can often be keeping gear dry and functioning properly. Winchester incorporated the Drylok Super Steel System which keeps powder dry. This is incredibly important and seals out water and moisture - this helps improve your pattern and offer up consistent velocities.
To me, hunting is all about the excitement, hard work, memories, and ultimately the food put on the table. However, there’s no doubt the better you know and understand your gear the more successful you’ll be. Whether you’re getting out with family and friends, by yourself, or introducing someone new into the outdoors, do yourself a favor and put all the odds on your side. We all like to be good at what we’re doing, so why not make yourself the best shot as possible.
