Imagine being able to view and compare multiple turkey load patterns without firing a single shot. Now it’s possible, with Winchester Pattern Board, the first-ever shotshell patterning app designed exclusively for Winchester turkey loads.
This one-of-a-kind app allows you to select a Winchester turkey load, yardage and choke constriction, and then shows you how that combination patterns on targets set between 10 and 70 yards. You can then examine pellet count and density within 3-, 5-, 15- and 30-inch circles. Even better, you can then compare patterns for up to four different load, choke and range combinations.
For example, let’s say you used the app to examine how a 3-inch, 1 3/4-ounce load of No. 5 Long Beard XR patterned at 30 yards. You can then see how that load performs at 40, 50, 60 and 70 steps. Or, you can compare that pattern to those fired through different choke constrictions or with different shot sizes.
So how does Winchester Pattern Board differ from the revolutionary Winchester Ballistics Calculator? Unlike the Ballistics Calculator, Pattern Board doesn’t use mathematical formulas to compute results. Winchester employees actually fired roughly 3,000 rounds during a 3-week period to capture images of actual turkey load patterns. They shot each catalogued Winchester turkey shotshell at 10-yard increments from 10 yards out to 70 yards. At each distance, they fired three rounds apiece through five different choke constrictions. The result is a unique turkey shotshell pattern database unavailable anywhere else.
Pattern Board is a web app and is now available on winchester.com for download. It has a responsive design, meaning it will scale to fit the device you’re using, whether it’s a tablet, laptop, phone or desktop computer, which will make this one an excellent tool for modern turkey hunters.
