Winchester Deadly Passion – Season 5 by Melissa Bachman
I’ve always been a very goal oriented person. There’s nothing I love more than setting my mind to something, working hard, and then watching that dream become a reality.
Well this couldn’t be truer than spending last night editing together a sizzle reel for Season 5 of Winchester Deadly Passion. It was another wonderful season that I’m wrapping up filled full of memories that will last a lifetime. Way back when I was a little girl I dreamed that someday I could hunt for a living.

Not even then did I believe it would actually happen. I hoped it would. I made plans to carry it through, but it was just a dream. As I worked for free as a filming and editing intern, I again hoped that I was getting closer. But every year it still seemed like a very distant possibility.
Now looking back 10-years from when I graduated college and began looking for a job it’s pretty rewarding to see how far this dream has taken me. Sure it took a lot of hard work, dedication, late nights and some pretty thick skin, but to do something you absolutely love is priceless.
The one thing that stands out to me on my progression as a hunter ishow the size of the animals or the location isn’t the most important thing anymore. Sure…I love looking back at amazing footage of animals, but my favorite is those moments with friends; these memories will never be forgotten. You’ll see me going back to some of the same locations year after year. Sure they probably have good hunting, but those guides, outfitters, or landowners are people that have become close friends. I look forward to seeing them as much as I do to the hunting.
This season I went outside of my usual hunts and ventured to some pretty amazing places. I spent almost 2-weeks on a raft floating down a river in the Yukon in search of moose. We traveled to Argentina with a couple close friends of mine from Field & Stream Shops for a wing-shooting trip that was truly mind blowing. I decoyed in whitetails on the Rosebud reservation for 13-days and did some incredible spot and stalk hunting in the Sandhills of Nebraska. My parents were both able to join me on a couple trips, one of my best friends from college guided me on a phenomenal elk hunt. Just an overall wonderful season and I hope this highlight video shows you just a piece of all the fun that was had this fall.
As always, you can catch Winchester Deadly Passion every Sunday morning at 11:30am ET on Sportsman Channel and these new episodes will begin airing in January of 2016.
